Wallaceburg Councillor Carmen McGregor filed her nomination papers on Monday, May 9, 2022 and will be seeking a third term as a Municipal Councillor, representing Ward 5 – Wallaceburg.
“I am an incumbent candidate completing my second term of Council and seeking re-election to Ward 5 Wallaceburg,” McGregor told the Sydenham Current.
“I was raised in Wallaceburg and have been actively involved within my community for many years. My career path, political experience and community involvement has given me a diverse understanding of the needs within Wallaceburg and the communities of Chatham-Kent. When I became a Councillor it was my desire to commit to my community for at least three terms. This past term has been a challenge for so many and I feel that I am in the right place to help our community prosper as we move forward.”
McGregor was first elected in 2014 and was re-elected in 2018.
Prior to serving on Council, McGregor was a trustee of the Lambton-Kent District School Board from 2003 to 2014.
“I have gained extensive knowledge of the workings of Municipal and Provincial Governments through continued learning and personal development partnered with my committee and community work over the past terms of Council and the Public School Board,” McGregor added.
For the first time in many years, McGregor said Wallaceburg is poised for a “brighter future with increased spending in our local infrastructure and future housing development on the horizon.
“I feel that my work is incomplete so I seek my communities support to fulfill an other term,” McGregor said.
McGregor is married to Tom and they have four children and nine grandchildren.
“Because of this community and its support we have been very fortunate to have had a local business in Wallaceburg for the past 40 years which has allowed us to live and raise our family here,” she said.
