Coyote spotted during the day at Canatara Park in Sarnia

Sarnia Police Service officials allege: Recently the Sarnia Police Service has had been contacted regarding a coyote having been spotted during the daytime hours walking through a residential neigbourhood to the east of Canatara Park.

We would like to remind the public that even though coyotes are normally not as active during the day they are still out and about.

We ask that people do not approach these animals but rather just stay away.

They are not known to approach humans but are rather very timid and tend to run away.

They scavenge for food so we ask people not to leave out garbage that may attract them to the area.

Also, take care of small pets that may be left outside uncared for.

This notice is just to remind people regarding their surroundings and how nature is so integrated with the City of Sarnia.

There is no need to contact police when sighting a coyote unless you believe the animal is ill (for example rabies).
