Additional rainfall expected, special weather statement issued

A special weather statement is in effect across Chatham-Kent, as additional rainfall is expected tonight.

Hazards, include: Total rainfall amounts of 10 to 25 mm and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

The rainfall is expected to end late this evening or overnight.

“Light rain has already begun over regions along the southern and eastern shores of Lake Huron and northern shore of Lake Erie,” forecasters say.

“Heavier showers are expected to move in later this evening. The ground may have a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall due to the recent heavy rainfall.”
