Man arrested for break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 1 p.m., police responded to a break and enter at a residence on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Police learned the homeowner returned home to find his home, and an outbuilding had been entered and several items stolen, including a blue Columbia Rambler bicycle with a brown leather seat.

At 5:14 p.m., police responded to a mischief complaint at another residence on St. Clair Street in Chatham.

Upon arrival, police learned the homeowner found the man on her property and believed he had entered her barn.

When she confronted the man, he became hostile and threw a rock through a window in her house.

The man left the area but left a blue bicycle behind, which matched the bike stolen earlier.

The homeowner described the man and provided his direction of travel.

At 7:30 p.m., police located the man and arrested him.

Upon arrest, he was found to possess identification belonging to the first homeowner.

The 59-year-old Sarnia man was charged with break and enter, mischief and possession of the stolen property.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Woman arrested for assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night at 6:34 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Creek Road in Harwich Township.

Through investigation, police learned the woman engaged in a verbal argument with her boyfriend.

The argument escalated when the woman struck the man several times and damaged his property.

The 30-year-old Chatham woman was arrested and charged with uttering threats, mischief and two counts of assault.

She was transported to police headquarters and later released with a future court date of July 12, 2022.

Man arrested for mischief

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:05 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Argyle Crescent in Chatham.

Upon arrival, police learned the man arrived at the home and began throwing rocks, breaking a large window at the front.

He left before police arrived but was located a short distance away and arrested.

While being transported to police headquarters, the man spat continuously throughout the interior of the police cruiser.

The 57-year-old Chatham man was charged with two counts of mischief.

He was later released with conditions and a future court date of July 13, 2022.
