Canada Day festivities taking place in Wallaceburg

Canada Day festivities are set to take place on Friday, July 1, 2022 in Wallaceburg.

“Celebrate Canada Day in Wallaceburg… vendors, food, live local bands, bring your lawn chairs,” the Wallaceburg Canada Day committee posted on social media.

An array of activities are set to take place at the Kinsmen Community Centre, located at 1416 Dufferin Avenue in Wallaceburg, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Food, drinks and vendors, inside and outside, will be on hand.

Free kid’s activities also start at 10 a.m., including: glitter tattoos, face painting, flamingo toss, duck pond game and a Canada Day photo booth.

Opening ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. on the main stage outside.

Wallaceburg Councillors Carmen McGregor and Aaron Hall will take part in a cake cutting, children in attendance will be encouraged to come on stage to sing the national anthem and the winners of the colouring contest and the winners of the best dressed home or business will also be announced.

The Dragon Elite Gymnastics and Cheer Team will be performing inside at 11:30 a.m.

Musical entertainment from Check 7 will start at 12 p.m., while Beauties and the Beast will perform at 2:30 p.m.

The PWSA Girls Baseball Team will be holding a fundraising barbecue during the event as well.

The closing ceremony will be held at 4 p.m.

The committee also wanted to thank WAMBO, Sugar Shack, Toy Wars and Collectables and Outskirts Cafe.
