Flight Fest “Hope is in the Air” is coming back on August 6, 2022 at the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport with free admission to the public.
It is brought to you by Ridge Landfill Community Trust, Waste Connections, Engie, COPA YCK 203, Schinkels Legacy, and several other local businesses.
Municipal officials say Flight Fest is a family-friendly event with static aircraft displays, children’s activities, live music, and more.
“The day portion of the event will consist of a variety of static aircraft displays with multiple arrivals and departures throughout the day,” organizers said.
“These static displays will feature outrageous vintage biplanes, an aerobatic helicopter, World-renowned warbirds, and spectacular jets from yesteryear. You are invited to safely see aircraft up close and speak to the aviators who fly them.”
Organizers added: “For the evening portion of the Flight Fest event, we will be putting the planes away, NOTAM the airport closed, and we will bring on the live music. The show will start off with a UBC Radio featured, contemporary artist, Dan Bremnes; followed by the Original Eagles Tribute Band, Hotel California; and Chatham-Kent’s very own Michelle Wright will be closing out our event.”
Michelle Wright is being sponsored by JM Controls and Electric, Clarke Construction, Apollo Property Management, DAJCOR, SM Freight, and Maple City Homes.
“I am so excited to be coming home to perform at Flight Fest on August 6 at the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport. It will be a great day of fun and music. See you there,” Wright said, in a media release.
Organizers say they are excited to provide a glimmer of hope to the local communities and businesses after the recent years of shutdowns and restrictions.
“With that need in mind, this year’s event – “Hope Is in the Air” will highlight humanitarian efforts locally, in Canada, and internationally,” organizers added.
“Representing local communities in Chatham-Kent, this will be a joint effort of COPA Flight 203 Inc, (the local chapter of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association) and the management of the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport.”
Gates open at 9 a.m. with the opening ceremonies starting at 10 a.m.
