‘CK letters’ installed at Enbridge Gas site in Chatham

Enbridge Gas, in partnership with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, acquired the ‘CK letters’ that were originally created for the 2018 International Plowing Match held in Chatham-Kent.

The letters have now become a permanent structure on Enbridge Gas property, located on the corner of Keil Drive North and Grand Avenue, Enbridge officials say.

“Enbridge Gas is excited to provide the ‘CK letters’ a home on the corner of Keil and Grand Avenue in Chatham-Kent,” Jim Redford, VP of Energy Services, Enbridge Gas, said in a media release.

“Repurposing them as a permanent structure adds pride in the community by featuring local art.”

This location was selected due to it being one of the most visible corners in Chatham-Kent, along with ample green space which mitigates any safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians, Enbridge officials say.

“This installation is a beautiful example of public-private sector partnership for the development of public art,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff, in a media release.

“When these letters were created for the International Plowing Match, we had always envisioned them being placed permanently somewhere meaningful in Chatham-Kent, and I’m extremely glad to see they’ve been given the home they deserve. I’m thankful to the team at Enbridge for ensuring that the people of CK will be able to enjoy them for years to come.”

The letters were originally created for the 2018 International Plowing Match held in Chatham-Kent and have been permanently placed on top of a concrete base that will be lit up at night.
