Wallaceburg Thunderhawks sold to Walpole Island First Nation

The Wallaceburg Thunderhawks have been sold to Walpole Island First Nation.

Ken Shine, the former owner, president, general manager and head coach for the Junior ‘C’ Hockey club, told the Sydenham Current the news on Thursday.

Shine said the team is expected to keep their name for the upcoming year and play their home games out of Wallaceburg Memorial Arena.

He said Tyler Jacobs is the new team president, while Louie Blackbird will be vice president and head coach.

Shine said the previous owners also made a $1,000 donation to the Wallaceburg Minor Hockey Association on Thursday.
