Person rescued in the Thames River

Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue responded to a water call on the Thames River yesterday evening just before 8:30 p.m. with reports of a person in the river.

Crews from Station #1 deployed in both Truck 1-11 and the Fire Boat 1-15, fire officials say.

When crews arrived on scene, they could see a person in the water.

Firefighters quickly pulled the person from the water and returned to shore where they were transported to hospital.

“I would like to thank our partnering emergency responders, CK Police and CK EMS,” stated Chief Chris Case, in a press release.

“Quick and effective actions by all resulted in a life being saved.”

Rivers are changeable and unpredictable and can contain hidden dangers, if you see someone in difficulty call 911, fire officials added.
