Chatham Ribfest is looking for a new location in 2023, as the Municipality prepares to start construction on William Street as early as next spring.
Organizer, Chris Glassford says he was notified just after the closing of Ribfest 2022 this July and after a few discussions with municipal staff, he feels there may not be an appropriate site to move to that meets the event’s large needs, which has traditionally been held at Tecumseh Park in Chatham.
Options such as St. Clair College and Memorial Arena had their own challenges and lacked proper infrastructure and usable space.
“We require specific conditions to operate the event including enhanced hydro, on-site water hookups, and space, something that Tecumseh Park has been able to accommodate us with for 13 years,” Glassford said, in a media release.
“Anytime there is a chance to improve or mend infrastructure we should be excited that the Municipality is working on it. While I am extremely worried about where we will move to temporarily for 2023, I can see the value in the project.”
Glassford is welcoming anyone from the community who may have ideas regarding sites in the Chatham and Chatham-Kent regions including private property or large commercial spaces with hydro and water to contact him at Admin@ChathamRibfest.ca.
