Laurence Boley

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Laurence “Henry” Boley of Wallaceburg on September 20, 2022.

Henry is now reunited with the love of his life and wife of 56 years, Sarah “Joyce” (Shaw).

Henry was a devoted father of Brian (Nelda) Boley, Susan (Mark) Tripp, the late Barry Boley (Teresa), and Sally (Eric) Martin.

Grandpa will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Leslie, Shaun, Stacey (Ryan), Paul, Dave (Jordyn), the late Jodi, Jocelyn (Peter), Jamieson (Stephen), Dustin (Meg), Braden, Molly, Patrick, Jim, and great-granddaughter Rosie.

He is predeceased by sister Betty (Art) Nesseth, Viola (Andy) Peterson, and Pat (Chuck) Svendsen.

Henry apprenticed as a Master Pattern Maker in London before becoming a dedicated shop teacher and Technical Director at WDSS.

He was a very active Rotarian for over 40 years.

In all of his accomplishments and endeavours, and in all of his relationships, he took their motto to heart: “Service Above Self”.

He enjoyed many hobbies, including photography, woodworking, duck hunting, and running.

He finished a sail boat from a bare hull and was known for fixing almost anything, including Vegas.

He collected extensively at yard sales, especially hand tools. He had an epic straight razor collection with which he shaved into his 90’s.

Called by many “The Legend” in his 80’s, Henry rode his bike from Wallaceburg to Glencoe (70km) to pick up his car, completed a Tree Top high ropes course and in his lifetime was hardly ever defeated at table tennis.

He was always keen to play bridge, euchre, and cribbage, preferring to sit “the way of the bathtub”.

The family would like to thank Lynne and Diane and Neighbourly Care for helping him stay home as long as possible .

Many thanks also for the staff at Babcock Community Care Centre for you patience and kindness in his last months.

Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home (409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg, 519-627-3231) Friday, September 30, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8pm.

His funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11am.

He will be laid to rest with his wife at Riverview Cemetery.

If you desire to make a donation in Henry’s memory, please consider Babcock Resident Council (Wardsville), Rotary International or your favourite charity.
