The sculpture is the work of artist Lou Cella and is being donated anonymously as a gift to the residents of Chatham-Kent.

All costs associated for the sculpture, delivery and installation will be covered by the donor.

The sculpture is expected to be completed in spring of 2023, where it will be temporarily housed in the atrium of the Civic Centre until a permanent location is determined by Fergie.

“What an amazing opportunity to honour a Chatham-Kent legend,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff, in a media release.

“It’s the perfect way to commemorate Fergie as both an incredible baseball player and person.”
