Forensic evidence helps solve crime

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On August 28, 2022 unknown suspects stole a blue Dodge Ram pick-up truck from a residence in Chatham.

The following day, the truck was recovered in Chatham.

The truck was examined and evidence was seized for forensic analysis.

On September 15, 2022 members of the CKPS Forensic Identification Unit confirmed that fingerprints located inside the truck matched those of a local man.

Yesterday, the 49-year-old Dover Township man was arrested and charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime over $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of October 31, 2022.

Woman charged with driving while under suspension

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, an officer on general patrol observed the woman driving in Chatham. A query of the license plates revealed that the registered owner was suspended for unpaid fines.

A traffic stop was initiated and the woman was charged with Driving While Under Suspension. The 33-year-old Thamesville woman will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on October 26, 2022.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On September 28, 2022 the man was released from Court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with a specific family member in Chatham or attend their residence.

Later that night, the man communicated with the family member and attended their home the next day.

On Thursday, the 26-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing and remanded into custody until October 4, 2022.
