From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin
I am finding something out about myself as I get older and see life whizzing past me at breakneck speed.
I am more grateful for little things.
Quiet evenings on the couch with my wife, a surprise text from a daughter living out of town, and friends to enjoy a run together on a Saturday morning.
I am finding that life doesn’t have to revolve around big events or fancy destinations.
Sometimes it’s just the little crumbs of pleasant living that add up to a feast of joy and satisfaction.
Even a delicious Dutch apple pie is nothing without the crumbs!
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in Canada.
Families will gather this weekend for a nice meal together, such as a turkey dinner.
Students are home from school and the Brigden Fair is back in full swing.
Of course, you may not have family to share this weekend with and that may cause you to feel left out.
Nevertheless, there is always something that we can be grateful for if we will just think about it.
Psalm 106:1 says, “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
That love was expressed best when Jesus died for us on the cross, and nothing can separate that love from us, according to the Bible (Romans 8:37-38).
I’m not sure where you are at this Thanksgiving weekend, or what your plans may be, but why not pause at some point to simply give thanks to God.
Perhaps decide to attend a worship service today to help get your “attitude of gratitude” positioned properly and then let that set the tone for the rest of the weekend.
I promise you that it will be time well spent!
