OPP officials allege: The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Chatham Detachment, charged two individuals within a four hour time span this week.
On October 28, 2022, at approximately 9:12 p.m., an officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle on Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found to be travelling 181km/h in a 100km/h zone.
As a result, a 45-years-old resident of Toronto has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed.
On October 29, 2022, at approximately 12:57 a.m., an officer on general patrol stopped a vehicle Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found to be travelling 170km/h in a 100km/h zone.
As a result of the traffic stop and investigation, a 20-years-old resident of Blenheim has been charged with the following:
– Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed
– Young Driver – B.A.C. above zero
In each incident, a 30-day driving suspension and 14-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused drivers are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Chatham at a later date to answer to the charges.
