Your Branch 18 at the Forks holds different ‘lottery’ events. These include Meat Draws every Saturday and also a 50/50 Draw done on Saturday but you can purchase tickets any day the Legion is open during the week previous to the draw. And periodically there is a Bingo hosted. Also we have Nevada Pull Tickets at the bar. All the proceeds from these ‘lottery’ events go into a separate account from the General account AND proceeds can only be used for donations to the community. Donations to youth sports, sponsoring free skates, summer reading program at the library, Santa Parade, Ronald MacDonald House etc., etc.
Then where does the money come from to pay utilities, repairs and renovations and all the costs of running a business? Well that comes from serving meals, selling clothing and of course the lion’s share – from proceeds of the bar.
Volunteers make it possible to keep costs for events affordable, but since your Legion relies on making money at all events (to pay the bills!) and since costs have spiralled up recently – if you notice the cost of your meal or of your favourite beverage has gone up a bit – trust you will understand.
