LTVCA to offer outdoor education programs at Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) is working with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent to continue the operations of the Chatham-Kent Children’s Safety Village, located within C.M. Wilson Conservation Area at 21799 Fargo Road.

LTVCA officials say like many organizations and non-profits, the COVID–19 Pandemic severely limited educational events and programming held at the Safety Village over the past several years.

LTVCA officials added they are now “optimistically moving ahead” with all previous donors, supporters and partners of the Safety Village, with a goal to offer an expanded outdoor education curriculum, in addition to the children’s safety programming for 2023.

“This will be complimentary to the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority’s mandate, provide educational opportunities for learners of all ages and be a valuable resource for teachers, children and our community as a whole,” stated Randall Van Wagner – Manager of Conservation Lands and Services with the LTVCA, in a media release.

Chatham-Kent’s Chief Administrative Officer Michael Duben added: “I’m delighted that the municipality will be partnering with the LTVCA on this project. Providing children with safety programming is extremely important to our community and we look forward to seeing the Safety Village fulfill this valued role once again.”
