Crush capture three gold medals at Stratford Aces Festival Cup

The Chatham-Kent Girls Hockey Association had a sensational weekend at the Stratford Aces Festival Cup.

The U13B, U15C and the U18C Crush teams all captured gold medals at the tournament.

U13B

The U13B Crush won gold this past weekend at the Stratford Aces Festival Cup.

Team officials say in the round robin the team tied the London Devilettes 0-0, beat the Flamborough Falcons 16-0, beat the Lambton Attack 2-0 and lost to the Lucan Irish 2-1.

In the semi-finals, the Crush beat the Lucan Irish 2-1 and in the finals they beat the London Devilettes 2-0.

U15C

Team officials say the squad went undefeated in the round robin with the following results: they beat the Woodstock Wildcats 4-1, tied the Central Perth Predators 1-1 and beat the South Huron Sabres 2-0.

In the semi-final, they were tied 1-1 against the South Huron Sabres at the end of regulation.

Overtime solved nothing, and the Crush persevered after 16 shooters (8th Crush shooter), winning 2-1.

In the gold medal game, they were tied 0-0 with the Central Perth Predators at the end of regulation.

Once again going to overtime and winning in a shootout.

U18C

Team officials say they went undefeated in the round robin with the following results: tied the Mitchell Meteors 3-3, beat the South Huron Sabres 3-2, beat the London Devilettes 4-1 and beat the Lucan Irish 2-1.

The gold medal game was tied 3-3 at the end of regulation.

Overtime solved nothing, but the Crush preserved in the shootout, beating the South Huron Sabres.
