Police: Missing person investigation ‘a community effort with a positive outcome’

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials have released more details about a missing person investigation that occurred this week in Chatham.

“On November 28, 2022, at 2:23 p.m., the Chatham-Kent Police responded to a concern an 18-year-old woman could not be located,” police officials said in a media release.

“Based on the information provided, the Chatham-Kent Police immediately began a missing person investigation. The search utilized various investigative resources and techniques, such as cell phone pinging, a drone, a grid search, the K9 unit and public tips.”

Police officials added: “Through the collaborative efforts of front-line officers, the Critical Incident Response Team, the Criminal Investigation Branch, community partner agencies, and the public, the woman was found safe on November 29, 2022, at approximately 7 p.m.

Police say she received medical attention for hypothermia but otherwise was in good health.

“The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to thank everyone who participated in this search,” police officials say.

“It was a community effort with a positive outcome.”
