Drug bust in Chatham, $73,500 worth of fentanyl, meth and oxy seized

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substance Act Search Warrant in Chatham as part of an ongoing drug investigation.

As a result, approximately $73,500 worth of fentanyl, methamphetamine and oxycodone were recovered and seized for analysis.

A large amount of Canadian currency, an airsoft pistol, digital scales, and other drug paraphernalia were also seized.

Through investigation, police learned the man was bound by prohibition orders, release orders and the suspect in a stolen vehicle investigation.

A 44-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of the stolen property, two counts of possessing a restricted weapon contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of failing to comply with a release order and three counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
