OPP: Crash involving school bus, speeding charges laid

OPP officials allege: On November 28, 2022, at approximately 7 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling eastbound on the Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 166 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

The driver, 32-year-old of North York, Ontario was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP officials allege: On November 29, 2022, at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Chatham Detachment were dispatched to a three-vehicle collision on Communication Road, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The collision involved two passenger vehicles and a school bus.

No injuries were reported, and the road was briefly closed to allow for investigation.

The driver of an involved passenger vehicle, a 31-year-old of Blenheim, Ontario was charged with careless driving.

OPP officials allege: On November 30, 2022, at approximately 4:35 p.m., officers with the Chatham Detachment received a traffic complaint of a vehicle passing unsafely and travelling at excessive speeds on the eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.

The investigating officer stopped the vehicle after it was found speeding 145 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, 22-year-old of Windsor, Ontario was charged with the following:

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

– Unsafe move – lane or shoulder

– Fail to surrender insurance card

– Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

OPP officials allege: On December 2, 2022, at approximately 3:10 a.m., an officer stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the Eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 188 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

The driver, 21-year-old of Scarborough, Ontario was charged with Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
