MVC on the 401
OPP officials allege: On January 4, 2023, at approximately 10:36 p.m., officers with the Chatham Detachment responded to a single vehicle Motor Vehicle Collision on the Westbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
A transport truck left the roadway, entered the centre median and collided with the cable guard rail.
The lone occupant and driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old of Tecumseh, Ontario was charged with Careless Driving.
Crash on Hwy. 40
OPP officials allege: On January 6, 2023, at approximately 7:45 a.m., officers with the Chatham Detachment responded to a single vehicle Motor Vehicle Collision on the 40 Highway, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
A passenger vehicle left the roadway and entered the east ditch.
The lone occupant and driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision.
As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old of Chatham, Ontario was charged with Careless Driving.
Using a cell phone
OPP officials allege: On January 7, 2023, at approximately 10:15 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a commercial vehicle travelling Eastbound on Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent after observing the driver using a cellular phone while driving.
As a result, a 22-year-old of Windsor, Ontario was charged with Drive – hand-held communication device.
Fail to move for emergency vehicle
OPP officials allege: On January 7, 2023, at approximately 7:22 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the Eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
The vehicle passed a stationary emergency vehicle that was on the shoulder of the roadway with the emergency lighting system activated and failed to move over to the unoccupied lane.
As a result, a 44-year-old of London, Ontario was charged with Fail to move into another lane for emergency vehicle or tow truck – if safe to do so.
