COVID-19 outbreak declared over at CKHA’s Complex Continuing Care Unit

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announced that the COVID-19 outbreak declared on the Complex Continuing Care Unit (4th Floor) at the Chatham Site on January 9, 2023 has been declared over by CK Public Health.

“CKHA would like to thank CK Public Health for their guidance and support during this outbreak, and the hospital’s staff and physicians for their continued commitment to providing safe, high quality care under these difficult circumstances,” hospital officials said in a media release.

“Infection Prevention and Control measures will remain in place across the organization and CKHA will continue to review and monitor the impact of the pandemic on its operations. Please see CKHA’s website for further details on visiting restrictions. Questions or concerns about visitor restrictions can be directed to the primary nurse and/or Patient Relations.”

Hospital officials added: “CKHA is reminding the community that the hospital remains a safe place to receive care. If you are experiencing an emergent acute care need, please do not hesitate to dial 911 or visit your nearest Emergency Department.”

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit provided the latest COVID-19 statistics in the community on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

A total of 96 Chatham-Kent residents have died from the virus since the pandemic began in March of 2020, public health officials say.

Six outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent.

CK Public Health officials say 104 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, increasing the total number of cases to 10,911 since the pandemic began.

The current seven day rolling average case count (average number per day) is at 14.
