2023 Hike For Hospice set for May 7

Spring is on the horizon, and that means it is almost time to lace up your shoes and join the Chatham-Kent Hospice, as they Hike for Hospice to raise funds to support end-of-life Hospice care in Chatham-Kent.

This year the Hospice is hosting a hybrid event where you can choose to hike on your own between May 1 and 6th, or walk as a community during our in-person event on May 7.

Mud Creek Trail in Chatham welcomes participants of all abilities who come together to show their support for Hospice families.

Before hitting the trail, hikers gather pledges to raise essential funds to ensure these families receive compassionate end-of-life care at no cost to them.

It’s also a way for people to remember their loved ones in a thoughtful and practical way.

“We spent our final days with my mother Louane at Chatham-Kent Hospice,” stated Katie Holmes.

“Hospice provided us with the opportunity to be a family again. The support, love and care the nurses and staff provided my mom and our family was beyond anything we have ever experienced. My amazing Hike for Hospice Team ‘Lou’s Crew’ has participated in the Hike since 2018 and it is our mission to continue to give back as much as we can by our fundraising efforts. We have hosted Rabbit Suppers, Krispy Kreme fundraisers, bake sales and more. Participating in the Hike is our way of saying THANK YOU to Hospice. This is also my personal gift to my mother. I no longer have the opportunity to spoil her with gifts on holidays or special occasions, so this is my gift to her and a way to express my love and appreciation. I encourage everyone to participate in the Hike for Hospice, and support this incredible organization.”

Registration is free and participants are able to purchase a commemorative t-shirt, photo lanyard or personalized memorial sign.

Hike for Hospice Chatham-Kent is presented by Battery Boy and generously supported by JMRD Watson Wealth Management Group, MicroAge/ MC Business Solutions, Chatham Lions Club and other sponsors listed on their website.
