Man arrested for theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 2:54 p.m., police responded to a business on Wellington Street West in Chatham for a theft investigation.

Police learned the man was observed removing merchandise from the shelves and attempting to leave without paying for the items.

The man was detained by store security until police arrived.

Police arrived and arrested the man. Police confirmed the man was wanted on four outstanding warrants.

The 25-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with theft and possession of the stolen property.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 5:42 p.m., police responded to Park Street in Chatham for a disturbance.

Through investigation, police learned the man attended a Park Street residence and verbally argued with an occupant.

The argument escalated when the man punched the victim in the face and head several times, resulting in minor physical injuries.

The 24-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with assault.

He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of April 3, 2023.

Man charged with intimate partner violence offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 4:18 p.m., police responded to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in Chatham for an assault investigation.

Upon arrival, police met with the victim and learned she had been assaulted by the man earlier in the day and was seeking medical attention for her injuries.

Police also learned of previous incidents of assault.

At 7:43 p.m., the 38-year-old Chatham man was located on Oxley Drive in Chatham and arrested.

He was charged with uttering threats, assault and three counts of assault causing bodily harm.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.
