OPP: Stunt driving, traffic infractions across Chatham-Kent

OPP officials allege: On February 28, 2023, at approximately 9:27 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle on Highway 40, Municipality of Chatham-Kent to verify the driver’s status of the driver.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 39-year-old of Blenheim, Ontario was charged with driving while under suspension.

OPP officials allege: On March 2, 2023, at approximately 4:37 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle on Highway 40, Municipality of Chatham-Kent to verify the licence status of the driver, the insurance and validation status of the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 52-year-old of London, Ontario was charged with the following:

– Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

– Drive motor vehicle – no licence

– Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

– Fail to notify change of address

OPP officials allege: On March 3, 2023, at approximately 2:28 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle on Park Avenue East, Municipality of Chatham-Kent to verify the licence status of the driver.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 53-year-old of Chatham, Ontario was charged with the following:

– Driving while under suspension (Two Counts)

– Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver

– Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

OPP officials allege: On March 4, 2023, at approximately 10:39 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the westbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 155 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 29-year-old of Terra Cotta, Ontario was charged with the following:

– Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

– No mudguards

OPP officials allege: On March 5, 2023, at approximately 7:54 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle on the eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent to after the vehicle was found speeding 147 Km/h.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 23-year-old of Toronto, Ontario was charged with the following:

– Driving while under suspension

– Speeding 1 – 49 Km/h over posted limit

OPP officials allege: On March 5, 2023, at approximately 8:17 p.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the eastbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found speeding 159 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 24-year-old of Burlington, Ontario was charged with the following: Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

OPP officials allege: On February 25, 2023, at approximately 1:13 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle travelling on the Westbound Highway 401, Municipality of Chatham-Kent, after it was found 165 Km/h in a posted 100 Km/h zone.

As a result, the driver, a 20-year-old of Richmond, British Columbia was charged with the following: Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – Excessive speed

OPP officials allege: On February 26, 2023, at approximately 10:43 a.m., an officer with the Chatham Detachment stopped a passenger vehicle on Highway 40 near Meadowvale Line, Municipality of Chatham-Kent for expired validation.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 30-year-old of Windsor, Ontario was charged with the following: Operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

Anyone charged with Drive motor vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment of the involved motor vehicle and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.
