Sharon Johnston

The family of Sharon Johnston wishes to announce the passing of their Mom, at the CKHA on Thursday, March 9th, 2023 in her 80th year.

Sharon is predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Ron Johnston (2021). She is survived by her children, Shawn (Cathy Jarvis), Dean (Julie), and Kristine (Martin) Pittuck.

Sharon’s greatest joy was her grandchildren. Dylan (Nassim Sani), Scott, Keegan, Alison (Cole Tamblyn), Kelly, and Lindsey.

She was the oldest child of Frank (1997) and Harriet (Watson) (2007) Moran. Survived by her brother Tim (Ann Marie) Moran and predeceased by Doug (2022) Moran.

Sister-In-Law of Pat (the late Jim) McCormick, Geraldine (the late Cliff) Schill, Garry, and Mary Johnston.

Special Aunt to Kyle Moran and Katie (Ty) Moran. Sharon also had many nieces and nephews on the Johnston side who brought her much happiness when they would reach out with cards and pictures of their growing families.

Mom was the most patient, selfless, and giving person you would ever meet. She always had a smile or laugh for all that would come to visit. She thoroughly enjoyed crocheting, sewing, quilting, cooking, and baking for not only her family (who will really treasure their homemade Afghans and the jammie pants and miss the homemade buns and lemon meringue pies), to everyone who commented on her great talents. We cannot even begin to count the times mom has shared her talent to make something for someone.

Mom was humble, and have we mentioned she was patient? She had time for everyone, especially her grandchildren. Mom was always willing to watch them when they were young, chauffeur them around when needed, and mend and hem pants, to always have their favourite cookie or muffin in the freezer. The word no did not exist in her vocabulary when it came to her family.

Mom wore many hats in her lifetime, but her favourite would have been Gramma. She was so proud of all of their accomplishments, and we are sure the many people she would run into always knew that.

Mom worked for years at Hazzard’s in Becher, and then Besomar in Sombra until her retirement. She was involved with many meals over the years, catering along with Aunt Shirley, weddings, funerals, anniversary parties, and Optimist meals. She was a Member of the CWL, for over 40 years, and a member of Sacred Heart/St. Joseph’s her entire life.

Mom enjoyed the simple things in life; reading, gardening, her flowers, and watching the boats go by on the St. Clair River, but most of all she enjoyed her FAMILY. We will miss her tremendously. Mom was the glue of our family. We take peace in knowing that she is again with Dad and watching over us all.

The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, and especially Dr. Maria in the ICU at CKHA for their care and compassion for our mom in her final moments.

The late Sharon Johnston is resting at the Eric F. Nichols Funeral Home in Wallaceburg.

The family will receive relatives and friends for visitation on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM from the funeral home.

The Funeral mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart church in Port Lambton on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 11 am.

Cremation will follow and as an expression of sympathy donations to the Sacred Heart food bank may be left at the funeral home.
