‘Unmanned aerial vehicle’ used to help locate B&E suspect

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 8, 2023 police were dispatched to an active Break and Enter in Ridgetown.

The owner of a business was observing a masked male suspect inside his store.

Police responded with multiple units and found the suspect had fled.

Police were able to contain a search area and deploy an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with thermal vision.

A 43-year-old Chatham-Kent man was located and arrested for Break and Enter, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Disguise with Intent.

The suspect was wanted for failing to attend court and was breaching a curfew condition from a previous bail condition at the time of this arrest.

He was held pending a bail hearing.
