William Richard “Bill” DeMars of Port Lambton passed away at the CKHA Wallaceburg Site on Friday, April 7, 2023 at the age of 78.
Bill is the son of the late William John and Dorothy Drucilla (Roberts) DeMars.
Beloved husband of Margaret Louise (Lee) DeMars.
Loving father of Liz Gibson (Lloyd), Chris Murphy (Susan) and the late Bill Jr. (Michelle Clowater). Proud Pa/Pops of Adam (Makayla), Riley, (Sarandon), Molly, Carter “C”, Joseph and Jonathan. Dear brother of John DeMars (Tina), Lois Gray (Alan), Debbie Neff (Joe) and the late Joan Carson (Harvey).
He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.
Bill graduated from the Ridgetown Agricultural School in 1965.
He worked for Canadian Canners in Dresden, toiled the family farm in Port Lambton and then managed Brigden Co-op and then Omstead Foods in Wheatley, whereby he left the stresses of middle-management to join Billy in driving transport trucks.
Bill was also a Sombra Township Councillor and Deputy Reeve during the 1980’s.
Of all these accomplishments, the greatest is Bill’s family. Together with Margaret, they raised 3 children and were joyous when 6 grandchildren joined the family. Bill became a Pa and the beginning of new memories arose.
Bill was happiest when surrounded by his family.
The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton on Thursday, April 13 at 1 PM. Visiting will be held at the church in the two hours prior, from 11AM – 1 PM.
Interment to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations to a Trust to continue Bill’s life long passion for his grandson, Joey, would be appreciated.
