Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This week, as part of an investigation into the possession of child sexual abuse material, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) executed a Criminal Code Search warrant in Chatham.
A 40-year-old Chatham-Kent man was charged with possession of child pornography x 2 and accessing child pornography x 2.
The man was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet and conducts investigations into Internet Child Exploitation Offences in partnership with numerous Ontario Police Services and law enforcement agencies around the world.
The investigations conducted by the Chatham-Kent Police Service ICE unit are made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
There are resources available through the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health for those who have a sexual interest in children.
The new Talking for Change program is the first of its kind in Canada and provides national and all-ages help for those concerned about their risk to use child sexual exploitation material or offend sexually against a child.
