At its May 29th meeting, Chatham-Kent Council will receive a report recommending the purchase of a portable stage and approval of an agreement for its sponsorship with Mainstreet Credit Union.
Municipal officials say the state-of-the-art portable stage will enhance local events and provide a cost-effective staging solution for community groups.
The stage is expected to be available later this fall, allowing local organizations to rent it for their events.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with Mainstreet Credit Union, which is donating $100,000 for the acquisition of a portable stage,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff, in a press release.
“This investment will enhance the vibrancy of our local events and provide an accessible staging option for various organizations.”

The portable stage, with its versatile and mobile design, will offer an affordable staging solution for those hosting events in Chatham-Kent, Municipal officials say.
Its availability for rent will provide an option for events without expensive staging infrastructure, supporting community gatherings, concerts, festivals, and other cultural and entertainment activities.
Once acquired, the stage is expected to be available for use later this fall.
The rental cost for the portable stage will be set at a cost-recovery rate, ensuring affordability and accessibility for local organizations while not generating revenue.

The balance of the funds for the purchase of the portable stage will be allocated from the Community Benefit Contribution provided by Hydro One.
The Community Benefit Contribution is to be used by the Municipality for cultural and recreational purposes, Municipal officials added.
