Celebrating 75 years of service with the St. Clair Township Fire Department, open house planned for June 10

The St. Clair Township Fire Department has announced an upcoming celebration of its 75th anniversary.

Since its establishment in 1948, the fire department has been dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents of St. Clair Township and beyond.

To mark this momentous occasion, the department is hosting a public open house on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Firehall, located at 362 Broadway St. in Port Lambton.

The event promises to be a day filled with excitement, education, and community engagement.

Visitors of all ages are invited to participate in a wide range of activities that showcase the department’s capabilities and provide valuable information on fire safety.

One of the highlights of the open house will be the Kid’s Fire Escape House, where children can learn about fire safety through interactive experiences and receive gift bags to take home.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to embark on a tour of the firehall and explore the impressive fleet of trucks used by the department.

As part of the tour, the fire department will conduct an auto extrication demonstration, showcasing their expertise in rescuing individuals trapped in vehicles.

Additionally, a stove fire demonstration will educate visitors on the dangers of kitchen fires and how to effectively handle them.

For those interested in the technical aspects of firefighting, the St. Clair Township Fire Department has arranged an air pack and fire attack demonstration.

Alongside these demonstrations, picture displays will be set up, taking attendees on a journey through the department’s rich history and highlighting the progress made over the past 75 years.

The open house will commence with speeches from local dignataries, including the Mayor and the Fire Chief.

Attendees can enjoy a variety of refreshments, including coffee, water, juice, and pop, while indulging in delicious hot dogs and hamburgers available throughout the event.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in raffles and win exciting fire-related prizes.

By simply filling out a ballot, visitors will be entered into a draw for a chance to win one of the three prizes on offer.

As a special addition to the open house, the St. Clair Command Unit and Tower Truck will be on display.

Visitors can explore these impressive vehicles up close and witness the advanced equipment used by firefighters during emergency operations.
