‘Run for the Kids’ raises $80,000 for the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent

The first annual charity run, “Run for the Kids,” took place in Rondeau Provincial Park on June 25 and raised $80,000 for the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent (CTC Foundation).

Participants of all ages and abilities came together to run, walk, or move either a 200m or 5km distance, with each kilometer representing a step towards supporting local kids and families.

The Run for the Kids event was a resounding success, with 250 participants and overwhelming support from the community. Forty of those participants were kids under 12 who ran the 200m event.

The event began early in the morning, with participants gathering at the starting point, brimming with enthusiasm and determination.

Live music, a barbecue and crafts and activities for children were also featured, creating a family-friendly atmosphere for all.

The Run for the Kids event exceeded all expectations, both in terms of participation and funds raised.

It managed to attract a diverse range of participants, including individuals, families, corporate teams, and local organizations.

Enbridge, the Champion sponsor, supported the event with funds as well as a strong volunteer team on the day of the event.

“The success of the event can also be attributed to our participants and their supporters, our sponsors, volunteers, and staff who worked together to make this event possible,” said Mike Genge, President of the CTC Foundation, in a press release.

“The dedication and hard work of everyone involved were instrumental in creating a memorable experience for our CTC kids and families.”

In 2023, all CTC Foundation events are being redesigned to ensure the focus is on raising community awareness and funds to support special programs for CTC children and their families.

Not all services at the Children’s Treatment Centre are covered by government funding.

Programs like Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation Services, and Music Therapy are all funded by the CTC Foundation.

The proceeds from this event will enable families to continue receiving connection, comfort, and support by accessing these services.
