Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 10:31 p.m. police responded to Orchard Place in Chatham for a robbery investigation.
According to a witness, they observed the man physically assault a woman and take her purse.
Through investigation, police confirmed the man and the woman met outside a Orchard Place apartment building.
The man hit the woman in the head with a bottle and took her purse.
The victim and the man were identified and located.
The 21-year-old Chatham township man as charged with robbery.
He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date scheduled for September 18, 2023.
