The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for artists to design a captivating mural to be featured on the side of the Chatham-Kent Police Station in downtown Chatham.
This initiative seeks to blend art and community, fostering a deeper connection between our police force and the people they serve.
By engaging the creativity of local artists, we aim to install a mural that reflects the heart and soul of our vibrant community while emphasizing the importance of unity and understanding.
“We invest in public art to ensure a brighter future for our community, and partnering with our police force on this mural is a symbol of our commitment to building bridges. By fostering creativity and unity, we aim to create a community where trust, respect, and understanding flourish,” said Mayor Darrin Canniff, in a media release.
Funds for this project are allocated from the Hydro One Program, from which Hydro One has stipulated that the funds are to be used for recreation and/or arts and culture projects throughout Chatham-Kent.
“As guardians of our community, we must embrace the power of public art as a transformative force. By adorning the side of our station with creativity and meaning, we send a profound message to our citizens: that we are not just an institution enforcing the law, but a vibrant part of the community we protect. Through this project, we hope to strengthen the bond between law enforcement and the people we proudly serve,” said Chief Gary Conn, in a media release.
Designs can be submitted via Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent no later than August 31 at 4 p.m.
