Special to the Sydenham Current
The following unity statement has been issued by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham-Kent Police Service and Chatham-Kent EMS:
“As we prepare for Pride Week in Chatham-Kent, we join CK Pride Association in celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Recognizing our role as public organizations, we understand the importance of fostering inclusive spaces that honor the lived experiences, histories, and perspectives of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
We unite with CK Pride Association against transphobia and homophobia. We firmly believe that when individuals and families are treated with respect, provided with a sense of safety, and given opportunities to contribute authentically to their workplaces and communities, they thrive. Together, we strive for a more inclusive and accepting society.
We encourage fellow organizations and community members in Chatham-Kent to show unity with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Visit CK Pride to learn more about how to show your support.
To 2SLGBTQIA+ colleagues and community members: Happy and safe Pride, we look forward to celebrating alongside you.”
