Denise Harwood

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cecily DENISE Harwood (Dolamore) of Port Lambton on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the age of 70.

Denise was the daughter of the late Fran and Bill Dolamore.

Denise leaves behind her husband Dennis Harwood and 2 daughters; Michelle Harwood (Craig) and Kristen Getty (Kyle).

She will be dearly missed by her 3 grandchildren, whom she adored, Alison, Evan and Madison.

She also leaves behind brother-in-laws & sister-in-laws Brian Harwood (the late Shirley), Beth and Dave Studnicka, Uncle Mac Anderson and cousins Gay Cochrane (Brian) and Greg Anderson (Karen) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Denise was an only child, but also leaves behind her ‘like a sister’ and friend of 65 years Cathy Misener (Paul Crack).

She will be remembered by her very close friends Indira Reynolds, Dave and Jan Crane and Peter and Grace Morris.

Denise was a registered nurse who worked at St. Joseph’s Health Care in London for 38 years.

One of her greatest joys was watching a new father see his newborn for the first time.

Denise was a proud member of the Tillsonburg Lioness Club for 29 years in which she held many executive positions, including President.

After retiring and moving from Tillsonburg she, along with her husband Dennis, joined the Optimist Club of Sombra Township where she was on the executive and was presented with the President Award.

She was a member of St. James the Apostle Anglican Church where she joined the James Street Ministry which included Community Meal, Share The Warmth and her favourite, Mom’s Baby Cupboard.

Even after moving to Port Lambton she loved going to her ‘Golden Girls’ lunches with her fellow hospital buddies and enjoyed the wonderful friendships of the ‘Aqua Chicks’ after they took her under their wings when she was new to Port Lambton, and her ‘Deni’s Divas’ who helped her to raise money for cancer, and whom she loved zooming with.

Thank you to everyone who supported Denise on her cancer journey, she wouldn’t have made it this far without you.

Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, October 20.
