A $7,500 grant from the South Kent Wind Community Fund, a donor-advised fund of the Chatham Kent Community Foundation, has allowed the Chatham-Kent Hospice to purchase two specialized respiratory support machines.
The two myAirVO 2 machines will help improve the quality of life for residents experiencing respiratory distress by easing discomfort and reducing symptoms of breathlessness, a common and difficult challenge for many hospice patients.
“We are very grateful to the South Kent Wind Community Fund and the Chatham Kent Community Foundation for this generous donation that will help us to continue to strive to provide the best end-of-life hospice care possible for individuals and their families in our community,” said Jessica Smith, executive director of Chatham-Kent Hospice, in a media release.
The machines were purchased in partnership with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, which will provide training for hospice staff and handle ongoing maintenance.
