Vehicle theft in Sarnia leads to multiple charges

Lambton OPP officials allege: On November 22, 2023, at 7:30 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding the theft of a motor vehicle that had occurred in Sarnia earlier in the morning.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and identify the driver, who is currently facing several other property-related charges in other jurisdictions.

Members of Lambton County Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) took the individual into custody a short time later and recovered the stolen vehicle.

A 44-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with the following:

– Theft of motor vehicle,

– Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5000,

– Possession of property obtained by crime, under $5000,

– Mischief, under $5000,

– Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code,

– Failure to comply with release order,

– Failure to comply with probation order and,

– Driving while under suspension (two counts).

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
