Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 10:47 p.m., emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle collision on Jane Road in Thamesville.
Upon arrival, officers learned the vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.
The pole received extreme damage and had to be repaired by Hydro One crews.
Officers believed the driver to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested him.
The man was transported to police headquarters for breath tests, and the vehicle was towed.
The 23-year-old Thamesville man was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.
He was released with conditions and a future court date of January 29, 2024.
