Pair arrested in Chatham for failing to attend court

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 9:13 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on Thames Street in Chatham.

The investigation revealed the man was bound by a release order not to communicate or associate with the woman he was with.

Both were also wanted on outstanding warrants.

The man and woman were arrested and transported to police headquarters, where they were held for a bail hearing.

As a result, both were remanded into custody until they appear in court on March 12, 2024, by video.

The 38-year-old Harwich Township man currently faces the following charges: failing to comply with an undertaking, carrying a concealed weapon, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device/ammo, occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited device, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of failing to comply with a release order and six counts of possession of a firearm/ammo contrary to a prohibition order.

The 45-year-old Chatham woman currently faces the following charges: Impaired driving, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a prohibited device/ammo, occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited device, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, failing to appear in court and failing to comply with a release order.
