Suspicious activity in Chatham leads to fraud charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:31 p.m., police attended a parking lot on Richmond Street in Chatham to investigate suspicious activity.

Upon arrival, officers located the man and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant related to an August 2023 fraud investigation where money was removed from a bank account using stolen cheques.

The man was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, uttering forged documents, identity fraud and fraud under $5000.

He was released with a future court date of April 29, 2024.
