Verbal argument in Chatham leads to assault charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 31, 2024, the man and the woman were engaged in a verbal argument while walking on King Street in Chatham.

The argument escalated when the man assaulted the woman on two occasions, which was witnessed by bystanders.

The man left the area prior to police arrival.

When he was not located a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On April 1, 2024, at 11:27 a.m., police located the man on Wellington Street in Chatham and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

The 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing.

He is currently facing the following charges: two counts of assault.
