Youth charged after alleged assaults in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Chatham-Kent police say a youth is facing charges following an alleged assault in the north end of the municipality.

On April 29, 2026, at approximately 6:59 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault at a residence in Chatham.

Officers determined that a verbal altercation between a male youth and a female youth escalated when he slapped her face. Police said the youth then assaulted his mother when she confronted him about the altercation.

The 16-year-old male youth was arrested and charged with two counts of assault. He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of July 8, 2026.
