Swerving vehicle stopped, impaired by drug charges laid in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service have arrested a man for impaired driving in Chatham yesterday afternoon.

At around 9:30 p.m. police received a report of a possible impaired driver as someone witnessed a vehicle almost striking a median and swerving into oncoming traffic.

Shortly after, police located the described motor vehicle, and conducted a traffic stop.

Through investigation, the officer believed that the man was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and he was arrested.

The man was transported to police headquarters for further testing.

The 23-year-old Chatham man has been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs.

It was also learned that there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest; the warrant was executed, and he was held for bail pending a hearing before a judge.
