Crash on the 401 in London leads to multiple charges, Wallaceburg resident & two Chatham residents charged

OPP officials allege: Police have charged three individuals after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in London.

On May 28, 2024, at 11:40 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), OPP Highway Safety Division, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and London Fire Department were dispatched to the Westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Highbury Avenue in The City of London for the report of a two-vehicle collision between a transport truck and a passenger vehicle.

Two individuals fled the scene, while a third individual remained with the vehicle due to injuries sustained in the collision.

While attending to the injured party, officers observed a firearm within the vehicle and placed the lone occupant under arrest.

The two individuals who initially fled returned to the scene of the collision and were subsequently placed under arrest.

All three occupants of the passenger vehicle were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A further search of the vehicle, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit, revealed six firearms and ammunition.

A 34-year-old Wallaceburg man, a 39-year-old Chatham woman and a 32-year-old Chatham man each face several charges.

The accused remain in custody for a bail hearing.
