Chatham-Kent firefighters responded on Monday, June 3 at approximately 5:55 a.m. to a fully involved structure fire at a single-family dwelling at 4818 ecumseh Line in Tilbury.
“Upon arrival it was verified that all occupants were out of the dwelling,” fire officials said in a media release.
“A defensive stance was taken.”
Fire officials said crews are still on scene and they are asking the public to avoid the area.
There were no injuries, however, one pet perished in the fire, officials added.
Station #19 – Tilbury and Station #17 – Merlin were initially called to the blaze, while Station 15 – Raleigh North and Station #20 – Wheatley were dispatched for water support.
Fire officials estimate that approximately $350,000 in damage was caused.
