CKHA announces three new Family Medicine Residents

Chatham-Kent Health Alliance is welcoming three new Family Medicine Residents.

Drs. Alexandra Ferrara, Pooria Ghadiri and Jared Tschirhart will begin their post-graduate training at CKHA this summer.

The residents will gain valuable experience by working with local physicians and CKHA’s healthcare team to provide support and direction as they complete the clinical portion of their medical training.

“Chatham-Kent offers a vibrant rural community with a wide range of Family Medicine opportunities,” said Dr. Zeke Milkovic, Acting Chief of Staff at CKHA, in a media release.

“The residents will have the opportunity to work and train alongside highlight skilled physicians and will gain experience in many aspects of practicing medicine. I am confident that they will make significant contributions to the health and well-being of the community during their time at CKHA.”

Dr. Ferrara, born and raised in Chatham, is excited to return to her hometown to serve her community.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) at Western University, followed by a Master of Public Health at Brock University, and studied Medicine at the University of Limerick in Ireland.

Her areas of interest include Emergency and Oncology Medicine, long-term care, and procedural work such as small lesion clinics. When not practicing medicine, Dr. Ferrara loves to travel and has explored much of Europe.

“I was born and raised in Chatham, and I am looking forward to coming home and serving my community,” said Dr. Ferrara, in a press release.

Dr. Ghadiri earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Shiraz University and has since lived in various Canadian cities including Saskatoon, Vancouver, and Montreal. He holds a Master of Science in Medicine (MSc) in Family Medicine from McGill University, where he authored a thesis on the use of Artificial Intelligence to aid adolescents with mental health problems.

His interests include Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN. Beyond his professional interests, he enjoys activities like fishing, exercising, and baking sourdough bread.

“It’s wonderful to feel so welcomed as I prepare for this new journey in Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Ghadiri, in a press release.

“I am absolutely thrilled to embark on the next two years of my residency in the beautiful city of Chatham. Following this, I look forward to transitioning into major rotations like Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN.”

Dr. Tschirhart completed his undergraduate and Master’s degrees at Queen’s University before earning his Medical Degree at Western University.

His medical interests include Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, and Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Outside of medicine, he enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time outdoors, and he looks forward to exploring Chatham-Kent’s local produce and markets.
