Anishinaabeg Kinomaagewgamig is beginning its 12th year of immersive Anishinaabemowin education, according to a letter sent to families dated September 3, 2026.
The letter, signed by Immersion Coordinator Minogiizhgad, welcomes students, families, staff and community into the new school year, which it says is “grounded in identity, belonging, and Anishinaabe ways of knowing.”
The letter states the school’s commitment remains “to nurture our children in a learning environment where language lives, culture thrives, and community surrounds them,” adding that the program grows each year “in our fluency, in our relationships, and in our shared vision for the future of our immersion program.”
The letter says the year ahead will bring new opportunities to learn from the land and strengthen language and cultural connection, and it thanks families “for placing your trust in us.” It closes with the Anishinaabemowin greeting “Minodaapnigoom,” which it translates as “welcome back to another beautiful year of learning together.”
