Cyclist airlifted to hospital after wiping out on Charing Cross Road

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 16, 2024, at 2:42 p.m. emergency crews responded to a collision involving a cyclist on Charing Cross Road in Harwich Township, between Drury Line and Fourteenth Line.

A group of four cyclists were riding single file, northbound on Charing Cross when the lead cyclist hit gravel and lost control of the bike.

The rider fell and sustained serious injury.

The 71-year-old New York woman was transported to the hospital by EMS for medical treatment.

She was assessed to be in critical condition and subsequently airlifted to a London hospital by Ornge Air Ambulance.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service Traffic Unit is currently investigating the collision.
